Maria Pallotta Cause of Death Mississauga: St. Martin Catholic Secondary School mourn the sudden loss of beloved principal following a “medical emergency” at the school
MISSISSAUGA, Ont — The St. Martin Catholic Secondary School community is mourning the sudden death of Principal Maria Pallotta, who passed away Wednesday afternoon following a medical emergency on campus.
According to a letter sent to staff and families by Marianne Mazzorato, Director of Education for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB), Pallotta died unexpectedly after being rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition. She was 50 years old.
Our entire DPCDSB community is mourning this devastating loss,” Mazzorato wrote. “Maria was a beloved and compassionate leader whose faith-filled commitment to Catholic education touched the lives of so many.”
Emergency services were called to St. Martin Catholic Secondary School, located on Rosemary Drive near Mavis Road and Dundas Street West, at approximately 12:49 p.m. on Wednesday. Peel Regional Paramedic Services, Peel Regional Police, and Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene after receiving a report of a woman in her 50s experiencing a medical crisis.
Paramedics transported Pallotta to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The exact nature of the medical emergency has not been disclosed due to patient confidentiality, officials said. Peel Regional Police have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
