Tragic Murder-Suicide in Bishopville, SC: Man Kills Girlfriend in Front of Her Child Before Taking His Own Life

Bishopville, SC – A devastating act of domestic violence unfolded over Memorial Day weekend in Bishopville, South Carolina, where 51-year-old Jermaine Wesley fatally shot his girlfriend, 31-year-old Tanasia Parker, in front of her 4-year-old son before taking his own life.

The tragic incident occurred on May 25, 2025, in a home where the couple was staying. Just days earlier, Tanasia and Jermaine had returned from a vacation in Miami, Florida, a trip that seemingly masked the growing turmoil in their relationship.

Authorities say the situation turned deadly during the holiday weekend when Jermaine, who had a documented history of violent behavior, shot and killed Tanasia in the presence of her young son. Following the murder, Jermaine reportedly sent a chilling message to his family, admitting to the killing and stating his intent to end his own life.

When 911 was called, emergency responders arrived at the scene to find both adults deceased from gunshot wounds. Tanasia’s 4-year-old son, who witnessed the traumatic event, was physically unharmed and is now in the care of relatives.

Jermaine Wesley was known to authorities in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he had resided for several years. Public records show he had a criminal history dating back to at least 2021, including charges of assault with a deadly weapon. It is unclear if Tanasia was aware of his full criminal background.
