17-Year-Old Navaeh Carter Killed in Charlotte Drive-By Shooting
Charlotte, NC – The Charlotte community is mourning the tragic and senseless loss of Navaeh Carter, a 17-year-old girl who was killed in a drive-by shooting during the early morning hours of May 31, 2025.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the shooting occurred around 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of North Graham Street and Craighead Road.
Navaeh was a passenger in a vehicle when masked assailants in another vehicle opened fire. The suspect vehicle fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
When officers arrived, they discovered Navaeh suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene, inside the vehicle where she had been sitting. She was only 17 years old.
Navaeh Carter was described by friends and loved ones as a kind, bright, and joyful teenager who had her whole life ahead of her. Her death has devastated her family, who are left searching for answers and grieving an unimaginable loss.
