Bank holiday Monday supermarket opening hours: Tesco, Asda, Co-op, Lidl and more

 

Britons are gearing up for the final long weekend of summer 2025, with schools, banks, government offices and several businesses closing for the August bank holiday.


Many supermarkets have announced they will be operating reduced hours on Monday 25 August, with some stores planning to close earlier than usual.


To help you plan ahead, we have made a list of bank holiday opening hours for major UK supermarkets.


Aldi

Aldi stores will be open from 8am to 8pm on Monday 25 August.


However, stores in Scotland will close at the usual time of 10pm. Check here to find opening hours for your local Aldi.

Maria Pallotta Cause of Death Mississauga: St. Martin Catholic Secondary School mourn the sudden loss of beloved principal following a “medical emergency” at the school

 MISSISSAUGA, Ont — The St. Martin Catholic Secondary School community is mourning the sudden death of Principal Maria Pallotta, who passed away Wednesday afternoon following a medical emergency on campus. According to a letter sent to staff and families by Marianne Mazzorato, Director of Education for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB), Pallotta died unexpectedly after being rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition. She was 50 years old. Hannah Keiver Ski Accident: Family and friends mourn the loss of Lake Louise skier who died after falling 600 metres down 3/4 Couloir, near Moraine Lake

 MORAINE LAKE, Alta. — A 34-year-old Lake Louise resident, identified by loved ones as Hannah Keiver, died Tuesday morning in a tragic backcountry skiing accident near Moraine Lake in Banff National Park. According to Parks Canada, the incident occurred around 7 a.m. on May 27, as a group of three skiers began their descent down the steep 3/4 Couloir, a challenging and remote route favored by experienced backcountry enthusiasts. Shortly after beginning their descent, one of the skiers fell approximately 600 metres down the couloir,” said James Eastham, public relations officer for Parks Canada’s Lake Louise, Yoho, and Kootenay field units.
